Together with Westinghouse an analytical program was developed to analyse deposits, crud, on the fuel rods in nuclear power plants using X-Ray Fluorescence. Using a sampling device (labelled B in the figure below) crud on the fuel rod is sampled and transported to a filter. The filter is then analysed with XRF and the amount of metals on the filter is calculated.
